NAMLO International
Last night, I had the great pleasure of shooting video and taking candid photos at a fundraising event for NAMLO International, a charitable advocacy group that works to end poverty and gender inequality in Nepal, and Nicaragua. If you have a chance, I highly recommend checking out their website, or visiting their Facebook page; it’s definitely a cause and an organization that’s worth your time.
The special guest of the evening was Aruna Thapa, a remarkable young woman from Nepal who has been an incredibly effective and inspirational community leader in her home country. Her achievements as an organizer would be impressive unto themselves, but what what’s truly amazing is that she managed to dedicate a HUGE portion of her life to bettering her home city of Kathmandu, while she was earning a Master’s Degree in Anthropology AND finishing a Master’s in Psychology. (I feel proud of myself if I manage to clean the house in one weekend.)
Aruna’s presentation, and personal story was educational, uplifting, and more than a little humbling. I’m hoping that visitors who view the complete video will feel the same way; Aruna definitely has a voice worth listening to. Many thanks to Rob McGough for hosting/organizing the event, and bringing me on board!
